Yes he is. Oh yes..
Random day drive out. Was running errands and took spencer with me. Lol funny.. I usually make him sit in the back because I don’t want him crashing into the dash, but this time he insisted on sitting upfront.. So I let him, and he navigated well.. Hahah 🙂
We kinda went all over the place. Ranch, Fred Meyer, post office, so I could grab a few more things for his food supply.
I was at Fred Meyer and I had asked the deli lady if there were chicken hearts or gizzards, as I hadnt seen them there before. She looked at me funny and asked me if it was for me and I told her it was for my dog. She must have thought I was crazy, then asked me what kind of dog it was..
“what kinda dog you got? You got a pitbull dont you?”
“yeah he is a pitbull….”
“oh he must be vicious… You feed him meat so he vicious huh?”
“uh.. No he is actually pretty chill. It is a better diet for him.”
“oh well feeding meat makes em vicious..”
“yeah he is not…”
Ignorance. I truly hate the people who messed it up for pitbulls. I’ll admit, I wish I had socialized him more when he was a puppy.. I wish I knew what I know now back then. But all I can do is be a good and responsible pet owner for Spencer and an advocate for the breed.
What people don’t realize that an animal is an animal.. Be it big or small, they will act according to what it’s owner taught them. If they fight it’s because they were taught to. Pets are a reflection of their owners. If a pitbull bites, so does a loud mouth Pomeranian or chihuahua. But the danger still remains.
People need to stop stereotyping the breed and start blaming the owners. I know my spencer has his shortcomings and they are only at the fault of my own hands. But people need to remain open minded. Spencer is a sweetheart when you get to know him and the only part people initially see is his protection over me, his fam or his domain. Which is like any animal, including humans.
Spencer will always be my co-pilot 🙂
